The Ministry of Power, on April 4, 2026, has notified an amendment postponing the mandatory star labelling regime for countertop induction hobs under the Energy Conservation Act, 2001.
Earlier, as per a notification dated December 8, 2025, induction hobs were to come under the mandatory star rating regime from July 1, 2026. However, based on review and in consultation with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, the Government has decided to defer the implementation by six months.
Accordingly, the new effective date for mandatory compliance is January 1, 2027.
Impact:
This extension provides additional time to manufacturers and stakeholders to align with energy efficiency standards and compliance requirements.
