The following has been stated: -

•The Reserve Bank of India has invited public comments on draft amendment directions for branch authorisation across various banking entities.

•The initiative aims to strengthen last-mile financial access through Business Correspondents (BCs), especially in rural and underserved areas.

•The draft proposes defining three delivery points: branches, BC-Banking Outlets (BC-BO), and BC-Banking Touchpoints (BC-BT).

•It also seeks to simplify eligibility for BCs, merge Business Facilitators into the BC model, and standardize commission structures.

•The directions cover commercial banks, small finance banks, payments banks, cooperative banks, and regional rural banks.

•Stakeholders can submit feedback by May 05, 2026.
