Secretarial ComplianceThe Central Depository Services Limited (CDSL), on April 6, 2026, has revised the compliance timeline for certain surveillance alerts applicable to Depository Participants (DPs).

As per the circular, for half-yearly alerts related to “Multiple demat accounts with same attributes (PAN/Mobile/Email/Address/Bank)”, the disposal timeline has been extended from 45 days to 60 days from the date of alert generation.

However, for all other surveillance alerts, the existing 45-day timeline remains unchanged as per earlier guidelines.

Penalty Provision:

If DPs fail to resolve alerts within 60 days (for the specified half-yearly alerts) or do not provide satisfactory responses, penalties will be levied. This revised timeline is applicable for alerts generated on or after April 1, 2026.

Impact:

This relaxation provides additional time to DPs for handling complex cases involving multiple demat accounts while ensuring continued regulatory oversight and compliance.
