The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), on April 06 2026, determined the retail price of Methylprednisolone 8 mg tablets under Para 5 of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013 (DPCO, 2013). The price fixation was carried out for the formulation “Each uncoated tablet contains Methylprednisolone IP 8 mg” for M/s Foregen Healthcare Limited (Manufacturer) and M/s Zorvia Healthcare Ltd. (Marketer), based on Total Moving Annual Turnover (MAT) data (M3) and applicable pricing methodology.
As per the prescribed formula, only brands with more than 1% market share were considered to compute the average price per unit. Based on this evaluation, the worked-out retail price was derived at ₹6.00 per tablet (excluding GST). The claimed price of ₹7.17 per tablet was examined but not accepted, as it exceeded the permissible ceiling derived through the DPCO-based calculation.
Accordingly, the proposed and approved retail price has been fixed at ₹6.00 per tablet (excluding GST), ensuring compliance with price control norms and safeguarding consumer interest. Manufacturers and marketers are required to adhere to this notified price while adding GST as applicable.
