The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), on April 2026, fixed the retail price of the combination drug “Each film-coated tablet contains Telmisartan IP 40 mg + Chlorthalidone IP 12.5 mg + Metoprolol Succinate IP 47.50 mg (equivalent to Metoprolol Tartrate 50 mg, extended-release)” under Para 5 of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013 (DPCO, 2013). The price determination was undertaken for M/s Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (Manufacturer) and M/s Primus Remedies Pvt. Ltd. (Marketer) using Total MAT (M3) data and the prescribed market-based pricing methodology.
In accordance with Para 5, only brands with more than 1% market share were considered for calculating the average price per unit. Based on this analysis, the worked-out retail price was determined at ₹14.44 per tablet (excluding GST). The claimed price of ₹15.00 per tablet was reviewed but not accepted, as it exceeded the ceiling price derived through the prescribed formula.
Accordingly, the proposed and approved retail price has been fixed at ₹14.44 per tablet (excluding GST). This ensures adherence to DPCO provisions and promotes affordability while maintaining a fair pricing structure in the pharmaceutical market.
