The Ministry of Coal (MoC), on April 6, 2026, has issued an Office Memorandum forwarding the approved “Guidelines for Preparation and Approval of Mining Plan for Coal and Lignite Blocks/Mines for Underground Gasification, 2026” for compliance by stakeholders.
These guidelines provide a standardized framework for preparation, submission, and approval of mining plans specifically for underground coal gasification (UCG) projects. They are applicable to major entities such as Coal India Limited, Singareni Collieries Company Limited, and NLC India Limited, along with other coal/lignite operators.
