The Ministry of Steel, on April 06, 2026, issued a corrigendum regarding modification in Green Steel Certification Framework.
The following has been stated: -
•The notification revises Para 12 to allow both annual and product-wise Green Steel Certification, enabling batch-wise issuance anytime during the year based on MRV requirements.
•It introduces provisional extension of existing certificates until June of the next financial year, subject to submission and verification of updated data.
•The National Institute of Secondary Steel Technology (NISST) is authorized to grant such extensions only for units applying for the immediate succeeding year.
•The extension becomes void retrospectively if the unit fails to qualify or is downgraded, with NISST required to report all extensions monthly to the Ministry of Steel.
This Corrigendum shall come into force from April 07, 2026.
