The Government of Goa, on April 08, 2026, issued a notification regarding the cancellation of the Ponda By-Election Notification.
The following has been stated: -
•The Election Commission had scheduled a by-election for the 21–Ponda Assembly Constituency to fill a vacancy caused by the death of Shri Ravi Naik.
•Polling was planned for April 09, 2026, under a notification issued on March 16, 2026.
•However, the Bombay High Court at Goa declared the notification null and void on April 08, 2026.
•Accordingly, the Commission has rescinded the notification and cancelled all related election proceedings.
