Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Steel (MoS) on April 08, 2026, issued the notification regarding the Temporary Exemption from QCO Compliance for Select Imported Steel Products up to June 2026

The following has been stated namely: -

• Certain steel-related products (listed via ITC-HS Codes in Annexure I) are exempted from mandatory compliance with Quality Control Orders (QCOs). 

• The exemption applies specifically to imported steel products covered under the listed IS standards and ITC-HS codes. 

• This exemption is valid only for consignments where the Bill of Lading (shipment date) is on or before June 30, 2026. 

• The list includes items like steel tubes, pipes, drums, stainless steel utensils, and structural steel products across multiple IS standards. 

• The order continues an earlier notification dated November 20, 2025, reflecting a policy decision to temporarily ease QCO compliance requirements for imports.
