The Commissioner of Labour, Andhra Pradesh, on March 23, 2026, issued Notification under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, publishing the Cost of Living Index Numbers and applicable Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) for employees in scheduled employments, effective from April 1, 2026.
The notification specifies revised Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA)/COLA rates based on updated consumer price index numbers. These rates are applicable to employees engaged in various scheduled employments across the State and are to be read along with the existing minimum wage notifications.
This revision ensures that wages are adjusted in line with inflation and cost of living changes, thereby safeguarding real income levels of workers. Employers are required to pay the updated COLA in addition to the basic minimum wages as per applicable categories.
