Labour ComplianceThe Government of Manipur on March 26, 2026, issued notification on Mandatory Online Registration and Renewal of Factory Licenses under the Factories Act, 1948 in Manipur.

The Government of Manipur has directed all manufacturing units operating in the state to ensure compliance with the Factories Act, 1948. Units that are required to be registered under the Act but have not yet done so must complete their registration immediately. Additionally, already registered units must ensure timely renewal of their factory licenses to keep them valid at all times.

Non-compliance, including failure to register or renew licenses, will attract legal action under the provisions of the Act. To promote ease of doing business, the government has mandated that all applications for factory permits, licenses, and renewals be submitted exclusively through designated online portals, with fees payable via the official e-payment gateway.

District Industries Centers (DICs) have been instructed to assist units in completing registration and renewal procedures. Importantly, from April 1, 2026, no physical applications will be accepted, making the online process mandatory for all manufacturing units in the state.
