The Government of Madhya Pradesh on April 07, 2026, issued the amendments to the Madhya Pradesh Transit (Forest Produce) Rules, 2022.
In the said rules, for rule 16, the following rule shall be substituted, namely:-
"16. Power to compound offences.-In cases, where the forest produce seized in an offence is not Government property or where it is Government property, its value is less than Rupees One Thousand and if the offender has committed the offence for the first time, the case may be compounded by an Officer not below the rank of Sub-Divisional Forest Officer on payment of an arnount of Rupees Ten Thousand or the assessed value of the vehicle, whichever is less. No further action shall be taken against the offender after the compounding of the offence. The seized forest produce may be released if it is not Government property, after payment of the value thereof."
