Secretarial ComplianceThe Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL) on April 11, 2026, issued a communiqué providing clarification on capturing coparcener details in HUF demat accounts. This follows its earlier directive mandating collection of coparcener details at the time of account opening.

Based on requests from Depository Participants (DPs), CDSL has made PAN optional for coparceners at the time of opening of HUF demat accounts. This relaxation aims to ease operational challenges faced during onboarding while still ensuring relevant information is captured.

However, CDSL has mandated that PAN details of coparceners must be obtained and updated in existing HUF demat accounts at the time of partial or full dissolution of the HUF. This ensures proper identification and compliance at critical stages of account closure or restructuring.
