The Ministry of Finance (MoF) on April 11, 2026, notified regarding the increase in Special Additional Excise Duty on High-Speed Diesel Oil.
The Government has increased the Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED) on High-Speed Diesel (HSD). Being satisfied that immediate action was necessary, the government amended the Eighth Schedule of the Finance Act, 2002. As per the amendment, under Item No. 2, the duty rate has been revised to ₹24 per litre. The notification has been made effective immediately, indicating an urgent fiscal measure likely aimed at revenue adjustment or market regulation.
