The State Election Commission, Haryana on April 13, 2026, issued notification on General/Bye-Elections of Municipal Bodies - Declaration of Holiday on Poll Day.
The Haryana State Election Commission has announced general elections for Mayors and Ward Members of 3 Municipal Corporations (Ambala, Panchkula & Sonepat), Presidents and Ward Members of Municipal Council Rewari and 3 Municipal Committees (Sampla, Dharuhera & Uklana), along with bye-elections for 6 vacant ward seats across various municipalities. Nominations will be accepted from April 21–25, 2026, polling on May 10, 2026, re-poll if required on May 12, 2026, and counting on May 13, 2026.
In view of the polling scheduled on May 10, 2026, the government has been requested to declare it a public holiday for all factories, commercial establishments, shops, and industrial undertakings within the jurisdictions of the concerned municipalities, to enable workers to exercise their right to vote. A copy of the orders issued in this regard is to be sent to the State Election Commission, Haryana immediately.
