The Education Department, Gujarat on April 09, 2026, issued the Master of Engineering and Technology and Master of Pharmacy Courses (Regulation of Admission and Payment of Fees) (Amendment) Rules, 2026 to further amend the Master of Engineering and Technology and Master of Pharmacy Courses (Regulation of Admission and Payment of Fees) Rules, 2020.
The following amendments have been stated:
• In rule 2, in sub-rule (1), after clause (e) the following clause (ee) shall be inserted, namely: -
“(ee) “Biannual Admission” means the admission process notified by AICTE in line with the UGC Instructions No. F.1-2/2024 (CPP-II) (C.No. 143903) dated the 19th June, 2024, regarding biannual admissions in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and the Circular issued by AICTE: AICTE/RB/2025/01/04/Biannual Admission, dated, the 8th January, 2025. Explanation. - For the purpose of these rules, -
(i) “July Session” shall mean the regular phase of admission process which shall commence in the month of July after the declaration of the result of the Qualifying Examination;
(ii) “January Session” shall mean the second phase of admission process which shall commence in the month of January upon completion and formal declaration of the entire admission process of the July Session.”.
• In the said rules, in rule 4, after Para B, the following Para C shall be added, namely: –
“C. Biannual Admission Seats: - (1) Upon completion and formal declaration of the entire admission process for the July Session by the Admission Committee, any vacancy arising on account of non-allotment of seats, after offering admission to candidates whose names appear in the merit list of the respective seats defined under Para A and B shall be considered as available seats:
Provided that for the admissions in Government and Grant-in-Aid institutes for January Session, the admission process shall be carried out only in those programs of corresponding institutes where a minimum of thirty (30) or more vacant (non-allotted) seats are available after the completion of the July admission process and approved by the Education Department for the corresponding academic year. Such seats shall be filled as Government Seats:
Provided further that admissions into Unaided institutes, including the CoE institutions for January Session, the admission process shall be carried out only in those programs of the corresponding institutes where the consent provided by respective institute/University for admission against available vacant seats arises due to non-allotment. Such seats shall be filled as Management Seats:
If any Government, Grant-in-Aid and Unaided Institutes including CoE institutes, are granted permission for new intake for January Session by the statutory authority or AICTE, the admission process for Government Seats at such institutes shall be conducted by the Admission Committee, and the admission process for Management Seats shall be conducted by respective Unaided (including notified CoE institutions) institutes, in accordance with the prevailing admission rules for the Master of Engineering and Technology.”.
They shall come into force on April 09, 2026.
