The Ministry of Commerce & Industry (MoCI), on April 15, 2026, released the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) data for March 2026 (Base Year 2011–12), indicating inflation trends across major commodity groups.
The annual WPI inflation for March 2026 stood at 3.88% (provisional), rising from 2.13% in February 2026, primarily driven by higher prices of crude petroleum & natural gas, manufactured products, and food-related items. The WPI index for all commodities increased to 160.8, with notable inflation in Primary Articles (6.36%) and Manufactured Products (3.39%).
On a month-on-month basis, WPI increased by 1.64% in March 2026, with significant price rises in Fuel & Power (4.13%) and Primary Articles (2.28%), while the Food Index remained stable at 1.85% year-on-year.
