The Office of the Commissioner & Director of Agriculture, Telangana (Agri Dept.), on March 12, 2026, issued a communication regarding identification of a misbranded pesticide and directions for regulatory action under the Insecticides Act, 1968.
The communication states that the pesticide Paraquat Dichloride 24% SL (Batch No. SF2506007), marketed under the brand “M-QUIT” and manufactured by M/s. Moti Insecticides Pvt. Ltd., was analyzed by the Pesticide Coding Centre, Hyderabad and found to be misbranded due to deviation in active ingredient composition (19.49% against declared 24%).
Accordingly, all District Agriculture Officers have been directed to issue stop-sale orders for 30 days on the concerned batch, widely publicize the matter through newspapers and agricultural publications, caution farmers against its use, and report stock detention details within three days, failing which strict action will be taken.
