The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on April 06, 2026, issued circular on System changes in NRCS to mandate submission of supporting evidence for Dispute Resolution.
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced system controls in the NETC Dispute Management System (NRCS) to ensure compliance with earlier guidelines on dispute handling. As per the update, any dispute (Debit Adjustment, Chargeback, or Representment) submitted without mandatory supporting evidence will be automatically rejected with reason code 5229 (“Rejected as no evidence uploaded”).
These controls will apply specifically to function codes 763 (Debit Adjustment), 450 (Debit Chargeback), and 205 (Representment), and will also extend to future reason codes where evidence submission is required. The objective is to enforce proper documentation and improve dispute resolution efficiency.
The new system controls will come into effect from May 15, 2026, and member banks are advised to ensure that all relevant officials are informed and comply with the updated requirements.
