Industry Specific ComplianceThe Education Department, Government of Gujarat (EDU Dept.), on March 16, 2026, issued a notification amending the Master of Planning Courses (Regulation of Admission and Payment of Fees) Rules, 2020 under the Gujarat Professional Technical Educational Colleges or Institutions Act, 2007.

The amendment introduces the concept of “Biannual Admission”, in line with AICTE and UGC guidelines, providing for two admission cycles—July Session (regular) and January Session (second phase). It defines the framework for conducting admissions in both sessions and formalizes recognition of this dual-cycle system.

Further, detailed provisions have been added for filling vacant seats in the January session. Government and aided institutes can admit students only where at least 30 vacant seats remain after the July cycle, while unaided institutes may fill seats based on institutional consent. The rules also prescribe merit-based procedures for admissions, including consideration of candidates who did not appear in entrance tests, ensuring optimal seat utilization.
