Commercial ComplianceThe Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on April 17, 2026, issued amendment in export policy of Baryte (Natural Barium Sulphate).

The Central Government has amended the export policy for Baryte (Natural Barium Sulphate) under the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023 on a grade-wise basis.

• Grade A (Specific Gravity ≥ 4.2): Changed from Free to Restricted

• Grade B (Specific Gravity 4.10–4.20): Changed from Free to Restricted

• Grade CDW (Specific Gravity < 4.0): Remains Free

Exports of Grade A and Grade B baryte will now require authorisation/licensing from DGFT, as per procedures applicable to restricted items.

Grade CDW baryte continues to be freely exportable without restrictions.

Overall impact: Stricter export controls have been imposed on higher-grade baryte, while lower-grade exports remain unrestricted.
