Commercial ComplianceThe Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), on April 9, 2026, issued a notification under Rule 15(1) of the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018, announcing the establishment of revised Indian Standards. These standards were established on March 27, 2026, and relate to equipment and industrial products such as beam scales, steel roller chains, and packaging of jute products.

The revised standards include IS 1433:2026 for beam scales, IS 2637:2026 for steel roller chains along with attachments and sprockets (aligned with ISO 487:1998, modified), and IS 2873:2026 for packaging of jute products in bales. These updates aim to enhance product quality, safety, and conformity with current industrial and international practices.

The earlier versions of these standards will remain in force concurrently until September 27, 2026, after which they will be withdrawn. This transition period is intended to facilitate smooth adoption of the updated standards by stakeholders.
