The District Magistrate, Nahan, District Sirmaur (Himachal Pradesh), on 2026, issued a notification under Clause 3(1)(e) of the H.P. Hoarding and Profiteering Prevention Order, 1977, fixing maximum retail prices (MRPs) for specified essential commodities. The notification supersedes all previous orders and comes into effect immediately.
The prescribed prices cover categories such as meat, chicken, fish, cooked food items in dhabas/establishments, milk products, and cold drinks. For instance, goat meat is capped at ₹500 per kg, broiler chicken at ₹220 per kg, and paneer at ₹300 per kg. Additionally, prices for common food items like chapati, rice, dal, and full meals have also been regulated to ensure affordability for consumers.
The notification mandates that all dealers display the price list prominently in Hindi (Devanagari script) and issue cash memos upon demand. Packaged commodities must comply with the Legal Metrology requirements regarding labeling. The order will remain valid for a period of two months from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
