The Government of Meghalaya, on April 13, 2026, issued an order declaring a local holiday on May 4, 2026 (Monday) on account of the “Shad Suk Mynsiem” festival.
As per the order, all State Government offices, Revenue and Magisterial Courts, Educational Institutions, and Financial Institutions within the Eastern West Khasi Hills District shall remain closed on the said date. The holiday is being observed in recognition of the traditional festival organised by the Seng Khasi in the district.
This declaration ensures that residents and employees within the district can participate in and celebrate the cultural and religious significance of the Shad Suk Mynsiem festival.
