EHS ComplianceThe Government of Kerala, Local Self Government Department (LSGD), on February 25, 2026, issued detailed guidelines for conducting pre-monsoon sanitation activities across all local self-government institutions. The circular mandates coordinated action among departments, missions, and community groups to ensure timely completion of sanitation drives before April 20, 2026.

The guidelines emphasise systematic waste management, including daily collection and scientific disposal of non-biodegradable waste through Haritha Karma Sena, cleaning of public spaces, drains, water bodies, and elimination of mosquito breeding sources. Special focus is given to awareness campaigns, involvement of Kudumbashree units, health workers, and educational institutions, along with targeted interventions in high-risk and densely populated areas.

Additionally, the circular prescribes structured planning and monitoring mechanisms, including ward-level sanitation committees, district-level workshops, and preparation of action plans with defined timelines and budgets. Financial provisions up to specified limits for Panchayats, Municipalities, and Corporations are allowed, and all activities must be completed and reviewed within the stipulated timeframe.
