Industry Specific ComplianceThe Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) on April 20, 2026, notified regarding the Authorised Officers under the Food Safety Standards (FSS) Act, 2006, and FSS (Import) Regulation, 2017.

The following has been stated:

• The instruction updates Customs Instruction No. 31/2025-Customs (November 03, 2025) regarding appointment of Authorized Officers. Based on recent Food Safety and Standards Authority of India notifications dated April 09, 2026, and January 06, 2026, five additional Points of Entry (including ICD Dhirpur, SEZ Gandhinagar, ICD Naya Raipur, ICD Dahej, and ICD Varnama) have been notified for food imports, along with designated authorized officers (FSSAI officials and Customs officers).

• With this update, the total number of notified Points of Entry increases from 166 to 171, and an updated list is provided in Annexure-A. Field formations are instructed to sensitize officers about these changes. 

• Accordingly, the earlier instruction stands modified to this extent.
