Industry Specific ComplianceThe Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) on April 20, 2026, issued the notification regarding the Discontinuation of reporting of Demat Accounts.

The following has been stated namely: -

• As per the Securities and Exchange Board of India circular (March 23, 2026), stock brokers are no longer required to report demat accounts to stock exchanges from April 17, 2026

• Stock exchanges will now directly obtain data on demat accounts (opened/closed) from depositories instead of relying on broker reporting. 

• Members are advised to take note of the change and ensure compliance with the updated regulatory framework.
