Industry Specific ComplianceThe Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on March 24, 2026, issued the Food Safety and Standards (Labelling and Display) First Amendment Regulations, 2026, to further amend the Food Safety and Standards (Labelling and Display) Regulations, 2020.

The following has been stated namely: -

• In regulation 5 which states “Labelling Requirements”, in sub-regulation (3) in sub-clause (iv), after the proviso, the following proviso shall be inserted: -

“Provided further that per serve percentage (%) contribution to Recommended dietary allowances (RDA) and number of servings per pack may not be given for Infant Nutrition products as defined under the Food Safety and Standards (Foods for Infant Nutrition) Regulations, 2020”

• In regulation 8 which states “Exemptions from certain labelling requirements” the following sub-regulation has been inserted namely: -

“(1B) The logos notified under Food Safety and Standards Regulations may not be given where the surface area of the package is not more than 100 square centimetres, but this information shall be given on the multiunit packages”

This shall come into force on July 01, 2027.
