The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) on April 21, 2026, issued the Central Motor Vehicles (Fifth Amendment) Rules, 2026 to further amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
The following amendments have been stated:
• In rule 81, in the TABLE, against serial number (11A), in column (2), -
o in item (d), in sub-item (2), under column (3), for the entry "Five thousand rupees", the entry " Two thousand five hundred rupees", shall be substituted;
o in item (e), in sub-item (2), under column (3), for the entry " Five thousand rupees", the entry "Two thousand five hundred rupees", shall be substituted.
They shall come into force on April 21, 2026.
