The Commission for Air Quality Management in the National Capital Region and adjoining areas (CAQM) on April 16, 2026, notified regarding the Implementation of actions under Stage I ('Poor' Air Quality' AQI: 2O1-3OO) of the extant schedule of GRAP in Delhi-NCR.
The following has been stated:
• CAQM has invoked Stage-I of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across the National Capital Region (NCR) with immediate effect, following directions of the Supreme Court.
• This decision was taken after Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) reached 226 (Poor category) on April 16, 2026, with forecasts from India Meteorological Department (IMD) and Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) indicating continued ‘Poor’ air quality in the coming days.
• Under Stage-I, all concerned agencies must implement and strictly monitor pollution control measures to prevent further deterioration. Citizens are also advised to follow guidelines under the GRAP citizen charter. The situation will be continuously reviewed for further action based on air quality trends.
