Industry Specific ComplianceThe Commissioner of Food Safety and Drug Administration, Tamil Nadu on April 08, 2026, notified regarding the imposition of a one-year ban on Raw Egg Mayonnaise

The following has been stated:

• The Government has prohibited all activities related to mayonnaise made from raw eggs—including its manufacture, processing, storage, transportation, distribution, catering, and sale—for a period of one year from April 8, 2026, under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

• The decision has been taken by the Commissioner of Food Safety in the interest of public health, as raw egg mayonnaise is considered a high-risk food prone to contamination by harmful bacteria such as Salmonella, E. coli, and Listeria.

• Authorities noted that improper preparation and storage by food business operators increases the risk of foodborne illnesses.

• The ban aims to ensure consumer safety, uphold food standards, and prevent potential health hazards until further scientific assessment and review.
