The Government of Punjab, on April 22, 2026, issued a notification under section 9(1)(a) of the Indian Stamp Act, 1899 providing a one-time remission of stamp duty. This benefit applies to instruments such as Lease Deed, Conveyance Deed, and Sale Deed executed in favour of plot holders opting for conversion under the State’s industrial policy dated July 9, 2025.
The remission is available only to those eligible plot holders who apply for conversion on or before April 30, 2026. It aims to incentivize conversion of industrial plots by reducing transaction costs associated with execution of property documents.
The benefit is conditional upon the allottee completing the execution and registration of the relevant deed within six months from the date of issuance of the conversion letter. Failure to meet this timeline would result in loss of the remission benefit.
