The Government of Arunachal Pradesh on April 06, 2026, issued ban on Fishing Activities during Monsoon Season in Lower Dibang Valley District (April–September 2026).
In view of the monsoon season (April to September), which is a critical breeding period for fish, authorities have imposed a complete ban on all fishing activities in open waters across Lower Dibang Valley District. The decision has been taken due to the alarming decline in fish stocks in natural water bodies.
The ban, issued under the Arunachal Pradesh Fisheries Act, 2006, applies to all forms of fishing, including traditional methods, with the objective of allowing fish populations to regenerate and restore ecological balance.
This measure follows earlier directions issued on March 31, 2026, and is aimed at ensuring sustainable fisheries management by replenishing depleted fish resources in the district.
