Labour ComplianceThe Government of Haryana on April 21, 2026, issued Haryana Pneumoconiosis Rehabilitation Policy.

The Government of Haryana has introduced the Haryana Pneumoconiosis Rehabilitation Policy, replacing the earlier Silicosis Rehabilitation Policy (2017). The policy aims to provide comprehensive treatment, compensation, rehabilitation, and welfare support to workers suffering from occupational lung diseases such as silicosis, asbestosis, byssinosis, and bagassosis, which are caused by prolonged exposure to harmful industrial dust.

The policy covers workers diagnosed by the Pneumoconiosis Diagnosis Board and who have worked in relevant industries in Haryana for at least five years. It ensures free medical treatment (through ESI or government hospitals), along with compensation under applicable laws. Additionally, it introduces a wide range of welfare benefits, including ₹5 lakh rehabilitation assistance, monthly pension (₹4,000), family pension, death and funeral assistance, and educational and marriage support for dependents.

To support implementation, a dedicated welfare corpus will be created with contributions from state welfare boards, and the Haryana Labour Welfare Board will oversee execution, identification, and disbursement of benefits. The policy also emphasizes awareness, early detection, and worker education through coordinated outreach programs.

Overall, the policy provides a structured and welfare-oriented framework to support vulnerable workers affected by serious and often incurable occupational diseases.
