The U.T. Administration of DNH & DD on April 02, 2026, issued the draft Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Marine Fishing Regulation (5th Amendment) Rules, 2025 to further amend the Goa, Daman and Diu Marine Fishing Regulation Rules, 1982.
The following amendments has been stated:
(8) Use of Turtle Excluder Device (TED) in Fishing Trawlers:
(a) “Turtle Excluder Device” is a specialized device that allows a captured sea turtle to escape when caught in a trawl net”.
(b) “In case of fishing by Trawling, no trawl net shall be used for fishing without a Turtle Excluder Device (TED) attached before the cod end of the trawl net”
The draft is published for inviting objections and suggestions from all persons likely to be affected thereby on or before the expiry of 30 days from the date of the publication of the said Notification in the Official Gazette.
