The Labour Department, Govt. of Uttarakhand on April 18, 2026, notified regarding the Revision of Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) for Engineering Industries (Feb–July 2026).
The following has been stated:
• As per Government Order No. 2492/36-1-2000-549 (S.T.)-84 dated 15 May 2000, engineering industries employing 50 or more workers are required to pay Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) based on the All India Consumer Price Index (Base: 2016 = 100). For the period July 2025 to December 2025, the average index is 1967, and VDA is calculated for index points above 426.
• Accordingly, revised VDA rates apply from February 01, 2026, to July 31, 2026. For establishments employing 50 to 500 workers, the monthly VDA payable is ₹9,170 for unskilled, ₹10,074 for semi-skilled, and ₹11,178 for skilled workers. For establishments employing more than 500 workers, the VDA is ₹9,622 for unskilled, ₹10,581 for semi-skilled, and ₹11,539 for skilled workers.
• The VDA is calculated using the prescribed formula based on the difference between the average CPI (1967) and the base index (426), multiplied by the applicable factor for each category.
