Labour ComplianceThe Government of Bihar, on April 01, 2026, issued a notification regarding the revised Variable Dearness Allowance for the different categories of employees employed in the scheduled employment.

The following has been stated: -

•Issued under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, Bihar introduces a revised Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) formula based on AICPI averages.

•The VDA is calculated using the July–December 2025 index, with an average leading to revised wages effective from April 01, 2026.

•Updated daily wage rates are set at ₹436 (unskilled), ₹452 (semi-skilled), ₹551 (skilled), and ₹672 (highly skilled).

•VDA will be revised periodically based on half-yearly changes in the consumer price index, without reduction below base levels.

•Detailed piece-rate wages are specified across sectors like stone work, bidi making, brick manufacturing, and others.

•The notification ensures equal wages for men and women, overtime at double rates, and standardized daily/monthly wage calculations.
