The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MoSJE), on April 24, 2026, announced the launch of the upgraded Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) App 2.0 to enhance monitoring, coordination, and implementation under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR). The initiative aims to leverage digital tools for real-time reporting and improved institutional coordination across national, state, district, and grassroots levels.
The NMBA, launched in 2020 and expanded nationwide in 2023, has already sensitized over 26 crore people through extensive awareness activities. The upgraded NMBA App 2.0 serves as a centralized platform enabling stakeholders to track activities, access IEC materials, manage volunteers, and facilitate awareness initiatives, along with providing access to de-addiction and mental health helplines.
The enhanced version introduces citizen access features such as e-pledge, de-addiction centre locator, feedback mechanism, and real-time grant tracking for institutions, along with role-based access for Grant-in-Aid Institutions (GIAs). These features aim to improve transparency, accountability, and accessibility, reinforcing the Government’s commitment to combating substance abuse through technology-driven governance.
