The Government of Delhi on April 24, 2026, issued declaration of Dry Days in Delhi for 2026 under Excise Rules.
The Delhi Excise Department has notified a list of dry days for 2026 under Rule 52 of the Delhi Excise Rules, 2010. On these specified occasions—such as Buddha Purnima (May 1), Id-ul-Zuha (May 27), Muharram (June 26), Independence Day (August 15), and Janmashtami (September 4)—the sale of liquor will be prohibited across various categories of licensed establishments in the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
Additionally, certain categories of licensees (such as L-16 to L-29 and others) are required to observe dry day specifically on Independence Day (August 15, 2026). No compensation will be provided to license holders for business loss due to these restrictions.
However, the restriction does not apply to service of liquor to residents in hotels holding L-15 and L-15F licenses. All licensees are required to display the order prominently at their premises for public awareness.
