The Government of Meghalaya, on April 23, 2026, issued a notification regarding an advisory on measles surveillance in the East Jaintia Hills.
The following has been stated: -
•The District Health Society has issued an advisory to strengthen surveillance and awareness due to a measles outbreak risk from neighbouring Bangladesh.
•All cases of fever with rash across any age group must be treated as suspected measles and reported immediately to health authorities.
•Schools and Anganwadi Centres are directed to report cases promptly and coordinate closely with the Health Department.
•Suspected children must stay isolated at home and avoid attending school until full recovery.
•The administration urges public cooperation, vigilance, and awareness to prevent and control the spread of measles.
