The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), on April 6, 2026, issued a circular introducing system changes in the National Reconciliation & Clearing System (NRCS) to mandate submission of supporting evidence for dispute resolution under NETC.
The circular provides that disputes (including debit adjustments, chargebacks, and representments) submitted without mandatory supporting evidence will be automatically rejected with a specified reject reason code. This requirement applies to specific function codes, namely 763 (Debit Adjustment), 450 (Debit Chargeback raise), and 205 (Representment raise), and will also extend to future reason codes where evidence submission is required.
These system controls will be implemented with effect from May 15, 2026, and members must ensure compliance with evidence requirements as specified in the relevant reason codes to avoid rejection of dispute cases.
