The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on April 27, 2026, notified regarding the Reporting instructions for Authorised Dealer Category-I Banks.
The following has been stated:
• The RBI has updated reporting requirements for Authorised Dealer Category-I Banks regarding over-the-counter (OTC) foreign exchange derivative transactions. In addition to existing obligations under the Risk Management and Inter-Bank Dealings Master Direction 2016 and Rupee Interest Rate Derivatives Directions 2025, AD Cat-I banks shall now report all OTC forex derivative contracts involving INR undertaken globally by their related parties to the Trade Repository of Clearing Corporation of India Limited. This includes both deliverable and non-deliverable derivatives, with certain exemptions such as back-to-back trades, transactions with other AD Cat-I banks, and contracts below USD 1 million (optional reporting).
• The RBI has introduced a phased compliance framework, requiring a gradual increase in reporting coverage—70% by July 2027, 80% by January 2028, and full reporting by July 2028 for all related party transactions. Banks shall also ensure timely reporting (preferably same day, within two working days maximum) and provide complete transaction details.
