The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on April 13, 2026, notified regarding the Revision of the arbitration deemed continuation stage, automation of the daily NRP/PRD fee settlement, and PRD workflow enablement in NRCS.
The following has been stated:
• It has introduced system changes in the NRCS back office effective May 15, 2026, to streamline dispute management and fee handling. The arbitration workflow has been revised such that if the acquiring bank does not act within 10 days of an arbitration request, it will now be treated as deemed acceptance (instead of continuation), with automatic settlement entries.
• Additionally, automation of NRP and PRD fee settlement has been implemented, where fees (₹500 for NRP and ₹3000 for PRD plus GST) will be directly debited from the losing party and reflected in reports like Cycle-1 DSR and monthly GST reports.
• NPCI has also enabled the PRD (Panel for Resolution of Disputes) workflow, allowing the losing party in NRP to escalate disputes to PRD through the system. The update further introduces new reporting fields, GST reporting changes, and specific rejection codes, while detailing the complete arbitration lifecycle with defined timelines.
