Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Karnataka (GoK), on April 27, 2026, notified the Karnataka State Road Safety Authority (Amendment) Rules, 2026 under the Karnataka State Road Safety Authority Act, 2017. The rules were finalized after prior publication of the draft in February 2026 and no objections or suggestions were received within the prescribed period.

The amendment introduces additional responsibilities under Rule 4 of the 2023 Rules. These include monitoring and coordination for implementation of the Cashless Treatment of Road Accident Victims Scheme, sensitization of non-designated hospitals for effective implementation, and ensuring operational support at the district level in line with the central scheme guidelines notified on June 4, 2025.

Further, the amendment mandates the appointment of a dedicated Grievance Redressal Officer by the District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) to address issues arising from implementation of the cashless treatment scheme. The rules aim to strengthen on-ground execution, improve access to immediate medical care for accident victims, and enhance grievance management mechanisms. [Notification No. TD 22 TDR 2025]
