Industry Specific ComplianceThe National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on April 17, 2026, notified regarding the Implementation of Unique Identification Authority of India ("UIDAI") Aadhaar Status Notification APIs for the Aadhaar ecosystem.

The following has been stated:

• UIDAI has introduced an Aadhaar Status Notification Framework to enable Members to receive real-time updates on Aadhaar status changes through an Authentication Service Agency (ASA), addressing the absence of a standardized notification system. Initially, the framework is being rolled out in phases and is currently limited to notifications related to deceased Aadhaar using API-based integration.

• Members are required to implement key APIs such as the Subscription API (for registration) and Polling API (to fetch status updates), while the UID Status Verification API will be enabled later.

• For implementation, Members must get their AUA code whitelisted with UIDAI for testing, complete certification testing via NPCI, and subsequently obtain production whitelisting. Technical specifications provided by NPCI (aligned with UIDAI standards) shall be followed, and Members are advised to ensure internal dissemination and adhere to UIDAI timelines for compliance.
