DGFT notified regarding the Amendments in export policy of Wheat

Industry Specific ComplianceThe Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on April 07, 2026, issued the notification regarding the Amendment in export policy of Wheat.

The following has been stated namely: -

• The amendment is issued under the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 and the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023. 

• Export of wheat under HS Codes 10011900 and 10019910 continues to remain “Prohibited”. 

• However, a special permission of 25 Lakh Metric Tonnes (LMT) of wheat export has been granted. 

• Detailed procedures/modalities for this permitted export will be issued separately by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade. 

• Additionally, exports may still be allowed beyond 25 LMT based on Government of India approvals to meet food security needs of other countries, as per earlier notification conditions.
