Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Jharkhand, on April 27, 2026, notified the Minerals (Prevention of Illegal Mining, Transportation and Storage) Amendment Rules, 2026.

The following has been stated: -

•Amendments revise key definitions under Jharkhand mining rules, including “Competent Officer,” “Department,” “Form,” “Mineral,” and “Transport Challan.”

•Rule 3(d) has been omitted, and Rule 4 now sets a 30-day approval timeline for dealer registration, with automatic escalation if delayed.

•Provisions clarify that valid leaseholders are exempt from dealer registration for the same mineral but are treated as deemed dealers.

•However, lessees purchasing minerals from other sources must register as dealers.

•A new rule mandates monthly returns via JIMMS, with penalties for delay and a paid provision for revision of returns.

They shall come into force on April 27, 2026.
