RBI Launch of Mission SAKSHAM for UCB Capacity Building

Industry Specific ComplianceThe Reserve Bank of India (RBI), on April 28, 2026, launched Mission SAKSHAM (Sahkari Bank Kshamta Nirman), a nationwide capacity-building initiative aimed at strengthening the Urban Co-operative Banking (UCB) sector. The mission is designed as a comprehensive, mission-mode training programme to enhance the capabilities of UCBs across India.

Under the initiative, RBI plans to conduct extensive training programmes—both in-person and through e-learning—targeting around 1.40 lakh participants. These programmes will cater to key stakeholders including Board members, senior management, and personnel in risk, compliance, audit, IT, and other critical functions. The training content will also be delivered in regional languages wherever feasible and has been developed in consultation with umbrella organizations and cooperative federations.

The mission seeks to improve managerial efficiency, strengthen compliance culture, and enhance institutional resilience within UCBs. It aims to build a sustainable ecosystem for continuous learning, thereby contributing to systemic stability and fostering long-term growth of the sector.
