The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on April 23, 2026, issued the notification regarding the Addendum to OC 208, 208A & 208B - Implementation of NRP & PRD process & arbitration guidelines.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Existing manual NRP & PRD processes will continue until full automation is completed, as per earlier NPCI circulars.
• A new bulk evidence upload and download feature is introduced in URCS for all users.
• Detailed process and rules for bulk evidence handling are provided in Annexure-1.
• Front-end evidence upload is now enabled for specific dispute stages (Chargeback, Deferred Chargeback, Pre-Arbitration, etc.) for approved and deemed approved transactions.
• These URCS enhancements will go live from May 26, 2026.
• From June 26, 2026, NRP decisions will be based only on evidence submitted during Chargeback and Pre-Arbitration stages.
• Evidence upload will be restricted up to Pre-Arbitration stage only; uploads will be disabled during arbitration stages.
• Remitter Bank must raise Pre-Arbitration only after A + 2 days, if beneficiary bank fails to submit valid evidence.
• Beneficiary Bank must upload complete and valid evidence within A + 1 day to avoid escalation in disputes.
• Evidence must be downloaded daily and stored properly, with a maximum 30-day window available for bulk download from URCS.
