The Government of Karnataka on April 29, 2026, issued the Draft Karnataka Excise (Manufacture of Wine) (Amendment) Rules, 2026, further to amend the Karnataka Excise (Manufacture of Wine) Rules, 2008.
The following has been amended:
• The draft introduces a key operational change by inserting Rule 9-A, which allows winery licensees to carry out bottling and dispatch of wine products on a 24-hour basis. To facilitate this extended operational flexibility, the responsibility is placed on the Excise Department, whereby the Deputy Commissioner of Excise shall ensure adequate staffing arrangements for supervision.
• The last date for submission of objections/suggestions is May 06, 2026.
